Little place right next to the Hyatt I stayed at. The menu has a variety of dishes but I started with the Pastelito Andino, a savory pastry filled with rice and beef. I then had the Pabellon Crillo, Venezuela's national dish, and a Maltin, a fermented malt drink made with sugar cane. Also included is three different sauces. Very tasty.

First time trying arepas! Delicious, flavorful and great customer service. Will definitely be back! Love that it included a little side salad. If you have a big appetite, consider getting 2 arepas!

VENEZEULA Excerpt from Eat the World Los Angeles: The busy downtown core of Glendale between Brand and Central can seem like an area to stay away from, with malls, chains galore, and probably the longest line at any Porto's throughout the entire city. Good news has come to those that work here though, in the form of a buzzing little Venezuelan cafe that is fairly new. When your order is called, a tray with your arepa will be presented with an assortment of sauces. Whether it be fast food dishes like arepas and patacones or plated meals, Venezuelans always seem to want to be surrounded with a variety of sauce options, and Cariaco does not disappoint in that regard. Pabellon, the shredded stewed beef that can be found anywhere in Venezuela in many forms, is celebrated as the national dish. You can get a plate here that includes rice, beans, and fried plantains, but having an arepa de pabellon (10.50) really cuts to the heart of the matter if you arrive with only one stomach. Besides the rice, the rest of the plate is all there, with healthy portions of each component stacked to give an eye-popping first impression.

Guys Cariaco has the best Venezuelan food in Los Angeles area. It’s super tasty and authentic. I’ve been here many times and it’s always top. The empanadas are so delicious. If you are craving for those classics Venezuelan empanadas, this is the place.

I always get the cheese empanadas when I come. Thin and sweet dough, it’s always right. It has the perfect amount of cheese and it’s always made on the spot. They have a little market where you can purchase the same cheese they fill the empanada with. This place never disappoints. A little pricy but worth it in my opinion. Tequenos are great too!
